Charles and Helen Pratt are the owners, innkeepers and your host here at the Cadiz Street Bed and Breakfast.

Charles, who is a retired Army Colonel, first met Helen when he was a young second lieutenant stationed at near by Ft. Campbell, Kentucky in 1966.  They were married in Helen’s home town of Paducah in 1968. They then started their travels around Europe and the United States as Charles continued on with his military career and Helen with her career as a registered nurse.

Charles and Helen have four grown children and currently nine grandchildren which live in Alaska, Texas, Colorado, and Alabama.

During their many travels throughout Europe as well as here in the states Charles and Helen have always enjoyed staying at local bed and breakfast where they found it much easier to learn about the area they were visiting and those who called it home.

About five years ago, thanks to his daughter who lives in Alaska, Charles found himself in possession of an old two story home close to downtown Princeton, Kentucky.  The house had been completely gutted on the inside. Only the studs were still in place when he walked

thru the doors for the first time.  He is always happy to tell the entire story to those who wonder how it all came to pass.

Now, after over forty one years of marriage, they see their life slowing down a bit, and they are not doing as much traveling as before.  Except for the trips to the above four mentioned  states to visit their children and grandchildren their lives are taken pretty much up by hunting and fishing for Charles and anything to do with sewing, quilting or bowling for Helen.

Charles, who had been in the restaurant business while growing up in Chicago, and who owned a small restaurant down near Eddy Creek on Lake Barkley a few years ago is the one who does most of the breakfast preparation at the bed and breakfast.  He is an early riser and can often be found in the kitchen working on fresh baked scones or blueberry muffins long before the sun comes up.
